BIOGRAPHY

Amanda Florence is a Melbourne based artist currently working across painting, photography and collage.
Her current work explores/infiltrates photographic representations of dormant interior and architectural spaces found in books or magazines.

Amanda’s work attempts to manifest the latent psychological energy suggested by the absence in these spaces.

Absence, desire, psychic and primal energies here are made visible/present in the playful material interaction of paint, collage upon the original photograph/source.

Amanda has studied Fine Art, BA Hons, Camberwell College of Art, London UK, PGrad Dip Fine Art, VCA, MA, Art Therapy, La Trobe.

She has participated in solo and group shows including WestSpace, Gertrude Contemporary (studio residency), Arts Victoria, 8th Asian Pacific C.F.A.E. Art Exhibition, Margaret Lawrence gallery and Craft Victoria.

Amanda’s work is in the collection of Artbank, and is published in A Short Ride in a Fast Machine: Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces: 1985 – 2005.
